City House

"I'm interested in the space between the viewer and the surface of the painting - the forms and the way they work in their surroundings. I'm interested in how they react to a room."
- Ellsworth Kelly

The City House is a multi-unit residential building in San Francisco’s Marina District. A collaboration with T.W. Ryan Architecture, this project animates its abstract facade through window composition and the shadows produced by delicate window surrounds. It is the window that mediates the room of the city, here the Fort Mason Great Meadow, with the lives occurring on either side of the facade.
