“Everything we see hides another thing. We always want to see what is hidden by what we see, but it is impossible.”
- Rene Magritte

Looking to craft a garage space that is simultaneously industrial and refined while managing the data infrastructure of the residence, this project uses an off-the-shelf cable tray to produce a decorative ceiling that is both functional and accessible. This radical approach to using cable tray, a banal and ubiquitous piece of interior infrastructure, as an unconventional coffered ceiling perfectly blends elements of performance and aesthetics. Referencing the mid-century classic Bertoia Chair, the wire mesh cable tray feels at home in the garage while elevating this space as a true showroom for fine automobiles.
